The number of families assisted under the scheme during the
year was 1,088.
In addition to the cow's milk and dried milk supplied free of
cost or at a reduced price, dried milk is supplied at the Infant
Welfare Centres at cost price, whilst other foods, medicines, etc.,
are supplied free of cost or at cost price. Details of the sale of
dried milk and of the sale or free distribution of other foods and
medicines are given below:—

INFANT LIFE PROTECTION.
At the end of 1934 there were in the Borough 169 persons who
had been registered under Part I of the Children Act, 1908, as
amended by Part V of the Children and Young Persons Act, 1932.
These registered foster mothers had 110 children in their care for
reward.
Fourteen persons were cautioned during the year for failing
to give notice under the Acts of the reception of children for reward.
