The Regulations also contain requirements relating to the
protection of meat from contamination by dirt and flies in shops,

The installation of refrigerators is now common, and most of
the shops are provided with this means for the storage of meat.
One hundred and six visits were made to the food factories in
the Borough. The premises generally were found to be in a clean
condition and the meat sound and free from disease. Eight notices
were served for contraventions of the London County Council
(General Powers) Act, 1928. Two summonses were issued during
the year against the occupier of a food factory for allowing offensive
refuse to accumulate. In regard to the first summons, taken under
the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, the Magistrate made an order
prohibiting the accumulation of refuse and requiring the payment of
£3 3s. costs. The second summons, issued under the London County
Council (General Powers) Act, 1921, resulted in the occupier being
fined £1.
