THE STRAND DISTRICT, LONDON. 21
The Temporary Shelter was made use of during
the time when their dwellings were being disinfected
by 5 families comprising 15 persons ; 9 were sheltered
during the day only, 6 during the night also. The
shortest period during which the shelter was made use
of was 12 hours, the longest 30 hours.
Public Library.—During the year, your Board
resolved that as the parish of St. Paul, Covent Garden,
is served by the St. Martin's Free Library, intimation
be made to the Librarian of cases of infectious diseases
occurring in that parish with a view to prevent the
issue of books to infected persons, or the reception of
books into the Library from such persons without proper
disinfection.
Vaccination in the District.

I am indebted to Mr. J. H. Penfold and Mr. C. B. Snell, Vaccination Officers respectively of Westminster Union and Strand Union, for the subjoined details relating to the performance of Vaccination in those parts of the above Unions included in the Strand District.*

* The Vaccination Officers do not make their Reports to the Local Government
