THE STRAND DISTRICT, LONDON.
Two deaths were uncertified by either medical man
or coroner.
The ages at which death occurred in the 495 deaths
belonging to this District, are shewn below:—

Deaths under 1 year of age.—105 infants died in
1895, as compared with 96 in 1894. Compared with
the number of births in the year, there were therefore,
169 9 deaths, per 1,000 births. The Southern division of
the Strand district being 192, compared with 148 for
the Northern part (St. Anne, Soho). The London rate
