The following 4 samples were reported upon adversely:—
Milk (Three Samples).
All these three samples were deficient in non-fatty solids as judged by
the Sale of Milk Regulations which require a minimum of 8.5 %, the actual
content being 8.42%, 8.44% and 8.37% respectively. The Hortvet freezing
test however did not in any case indicate the presence of added water. As is
known from past experience, a slight reduction in solids other than fat below
the presumptive standard of the Regulations can occur due to feeding
difficulties and no action was therefore necessary in these cases, other than
to draw the distributor's attention to their relatively poor quality.
