Seven samples of ice cream examined by the Public Analyst for
qualitative analysis were found to be satisfactory.
Ice Cream (Heat-treatment, etc.) Regulations, 1959.
There are no manufacturers of ice cream in the district, all the registered
retailers drawing their supplies from reputed manufacturers outside the
district.
All retailers are provided with refrigerator cabinets which maintain a
temperature well below 28 °F. in accordance with the regulations.
Bacteriological Examination of Other Foods
Samples of sweets, one of chicken, one of meat spread and one of ham,
all suspected by purchasers of causing illness, were sent to the bacteriologist
for examination and were found to be satisfactory.
Meat
Supervisory duties in connection with meat in the district are limited
to those related to its storage and exposure for sale, since there are no
slaughterhouses in the area.
The quantity of meat seized or suspected as unfit for human consumption
during the year was 2,385 lbs. 6 ozs.

numbered 264 as shown in the following table:—
