Carshalton and Merton and Morden Joint Cemetery Board have
continued during the year, but whilst a measure of agreement has been
reached to provide a Crematorium at Lower Morden, there is, having
regard to the prevailing economic conditions, no early prospect of the
necessary legal steps being taken to set up a joint Board preparatory
to the establishment of the Crematorium.
Modern mortuary facilities with provision for post-mortem
examinations are provided at the Council's Mill Lane Mortuary. During
the year 68 bodies were received into the mortuary, on 67 of which
autopsies were performed.

National Assistance Act, 1948.
