Outworkers
Regular visits were made by the public health inspectors to the homes of persons notified
to the department as outworkers in accordance with the provisions of sections 110 and 111 of the
Factories Act, 1937.

153 visits were made during 1960 to outworkers' premises. No contraventions were reported.
Shops
Inspections of shop premises under the Shops Act, 1950 have been carried out during the year;
inspections have been made during weekends and in late evenings to ensure that the regulations
are complied with. The change to "self service" continues to make itself evident throughout
