This year 1,011 old people received foot care and 4,180 treatments
have been given, an increase of 658 on last year.
The cost to the old people remains 1/- each foot.
Christmas Parcels
1,125 parcels (an increase of 100 parcels on last year) were delivered
by voluntary effort to the homes of the aged sick and housebound.
Clothing
Donated articles of cast-off clothing and bed linen were given to the
needy old people. In this connection home nurses and health visitors have
made many calls for assistance in emergency, when dealing with incontinent
patients.
Surplus clothing is disposed of at jumble sales where useful articles
are sold to the old people for a few coppers, the proceeds benefiting the
Committee s funds.
Clubs
Meals are served at the Woodberry Down and the Lord Morrison Hall Clubs
twice weekly and during the year 10,216 meals were served to the old people.
The cost of the meals to the old people is l/2d each. Summer outings and
Christmas Parties were arranged for each of the Clubs and enjoyed by all.
Holidays and Outings
With the help and co-operation of the Women s Holiday Fund, approximately
96 old people were able to have two weeks holiday at the seaside. The
approximate cost is £2.2.0. weekly, inclusive of coach fare, and the Women's
Holiday Fund have also given some financial assistance to a few couples who
have arranged their holidays at addresses supplied by the Old People's
Welfare Office.
Many opportunities exist throughout the year for the old people to have
trips to the seaside. Our own Clubs, the Evergreens and the O.A.P. Associations
and many others do valuable work in organising outings which the old
people enjoy in the company of their own friends.
Harvest Festival
Many of the Schools and some Churches sent the produce of their Harvest
Festival Thanksgiving. This was made up into basketsand sent to the aged
sick and needy. In all 755 old people benefited by the kindness and
generosity of the givers.
