DIPHTHERIA.
194 cases of Diphtheria were notified to us. 163 were removed
to hospital. Of these, 21 were reported from the hospital as being
wrongly diagnosed, 18 teeing Tonsillitis, 1 Vincents Angina, 1 Peritonsillar
Abscess, and 1 Measles.
CEREBRO SPINAL MENINGITIS.
1 notification was received. The case was removed to hospital and
proved fatal. 1 ;
The death returns show that there were 5 deaths of Tottenham
"residents" occurring in the year. This is explained as follows. In
addition to the above-mentioned case, 3 deaths occurred outside the
distnct of persons who properly belonged to Tottenham ; one case
admitted to the Prince of Wales's Hospital as suffering from Pneumonia
was registered as having died from Cerabro-Spinal Meningitis.
MEASLES.
During the latter part of the year there was a rather sharp outbreak
of Measles, many of the cases being complicated. As accommodation
was available in the hospitals, the most urgent cases were removed
there, to the number of 7, for the following reasons- Complicated with
Pneumonia or Broncho-Pneumonia, 4; Complicated with Mastoiditis, 1:
