2748 (Informal)Oyster SauceThis article was found to contain 1,500 parts per million by weight of Benzoic Acid as an added preservative contrary to the Preservatives etc. in Food Regulations.Cautioned The importers had taken steps in 1958 to prevent the shipment concerned from being offered for sale, when Benzoic Acid was found in samples taken at that time, and stated that the retailer concerned with the sale of this article must have been overlooked.
The retailer immediately withdrew from sale the remaining stock of Oyster Sauce.
