WARTIME NURSERIES
With the approval of the Ministry of Health the following
Day nurseries are maintained in the Borough.
(a) Parkshot Day Nursery, Richmond (52 places).
(b) Grey Court Day Nursery, Ham (60 places).
The total attendances made at each nursery during the years
1945 and 1946 were as follows:—
1945 1946
Parkshot Nursery 9,587 10,286
Grey Court Nursery 10,820 11,707
These two nurseries continue to perform a most useful service
in the Borough.
The attendances at both are greater than in the previous year,
but still fall a good deal below the possible maximum. This is
inevitable in view of the susceptibility of children under the age
of five to infectious diseases and it is unlikely that much improvement
can be made.
There is always a waiting list of children requiring admission.
A condition of admission is that the mothers must all be intending
to undertake full time work and some preference is given to
parents who are in serious financial or social difficulties.

(a) M. and C.W. cases 112 (b) Domestic cases 85
Number of hours engaged in work:—
