RENT AND MORTGAGE INTEREST RESTRICTIONS ACTS
1920 to 1938
Five certificates were granted under the above Acts
in respect of premises which wore not in a reasonable state of
repair, as compared with 21 for the previous year.
INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
Milk Supply
Almost the whole of the milk supply of the Borough
comes from outside the area and has been pasteurised before
delivery. This heat treatment is mostly carried out for
commercial convenience and is not compulsory unless the milk
is sold as pasteurised under the Regulations mentioned below.
There is no doubt that from the public health point
of view pasteurisation on a large scale and carried out by
modern methods is a very efficient safeguard against the
milk-borne infections. Until it is possible and practicable
to produce pure milk, pasteurisation should bo our watchword.
Milk in Schools Scheme
All milk used in the schools under this scheme is
pasteurised and is obtained only from dairymen licensed to
sell it as such.

for the sale of designated milk:-

Consideration of the condition of three slaughter-houses was

Department at the end of the year.
