SECTION C. —
SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
Water Supply.
The Metropolitan Water Board is responsible for the supply of
water to the Borough and regular periodical examinations are made by
that Authority.
With three exceptions all the dwelling houses in Wimbledon are
supplied from public water mains direct to the houses.
During the year 1953 samples of water were taken for
logical examination, as follows:—
Wimbledon Corporation Swimming Baths 18
Private residence in Somerset Road, S.W.19 2
Beverley Meads Allotments 2
21 of the these 22 samples were reported as being satisfactory.
Two samples from the house in Somerset Road, which were taken
as a result of a complaint by the occupier, were bacteriologically satisfactory.
Two samples were taken from Beverley Meads Allotments at the
request of the Allotments Committee. One sample taken from the
supply pipe from the well was satisfactory; the other sample taken from
the supply cistern from the well proved to be unfit for drinking purposes.
These results were reported to the Allotments Committee, who took
appropriate action.
