Result of Service of Notices.
(a) Legal proceedings.
As a result of non-compliance with abatement notices legal proceedings
were instituted in two cases. Nuisance orders were made in
both cases. The total costs awarded were £3. 13s. 6d.
Legal proceedings were also instituted in two further cases, the first
being against an occupier failing to pay for a dustbin supplied by the
Corporation in default. The Court made an order for the account to
be paid, together with £2. 8s. 6d. costs.
In the second case, legal proceedings were instituted against an
owner to recover the cost of work carried out in default of a nuisance
order. The Court made an order for the expenses to be paid, amounting
to £63. 19s. 7d.
(b) Work carried out in default.
Eight dustbins were supplied by the Corporation in default of the
owners or occupiers.
Works necessary to abate nuisances were carried out in two cases
where nuisance orders made by the Court were not complied with.
Work was carried out in one other case where the owner failed to
comply with an abatement notice served upon him by the Corporation.
Nuisances abated and defects remedied.
