£1,000 each were completed in Ickworth Park Road and contracts
have been placed for a further 34 of similar design, although the
price has increased due to continually rising costs of labour and
materials.
An award was received from the Council of the Festival of
Britain for the scheme at Oak Hill of 36 flats.
Inspection
The following information is given in the form required by
the Ministry of Health, and is supplied by the Chief Sanitary
Inspector:—
I.—Inspection of Dwelling-Houses During the Year: —
(1) (a) Total number of dwelling-houses inspected
for housing defects (under the Public Health
or Housing Acts) 3,034
(b) Number of inspections made for the purpose 8,673
(2) (a) Number of dwelling-houses (included under
sub-head (1) above) which were inspected and
recorded under the Housing Consolidated
Regulations, 1925 and 1932 Nil
(b) Number of inspections made for the purpose Nil
(3) Number of dwelling-houses found to be in a state
so dangerous or injurious to health as to be
unfit for human habitation 5
(N.B.—These comprise individual unfit houses)
(4) Number of dwelling-houses (exclusive of those
referred to under the preceding sub-head)
found not to be in all respects reasonably fit
for human habitation 1,810
II.—Remedy of Defects During the Year Without Service
of Formal Notices:—
