Dental Laboratory
Below is appended a list of the appliances completed in the
Dental Laboratory for the General Dental Service during 1949 and 1950:-
19491950
New Dentures 486 312
Orthodontic Appliances 1 —
Crowns 12 18
Repairs 205 156
Inlays 3 3
During the year further structural alterations and installation
of equipment have improved the laboratory and it is to be hoped
that the acquisition of an electric furnace for porcelain work will
enable every branch of prosthetic dentistry to be carried out.
Although fewer artificial dentures have been completed during
the year the increase in the production of orthodontic and other
appliances for the Walthamstow and Leyton School Dental Services
has kept the staff fully occupied.
I should like to pay tribute to the continued keenness and skill
of the dental technicians who have remained on the Dental Staff
in spite of the financial attractions offered them elsewhere.

During the year the following appliances were completed for the Walthamstow and Leyton Committees for Education:—

These are, of course, in addition to those listed above.
A limited number of appliances for patients referred by the
Maxillo-Facial Surgeon, at the Connaught Hospital, are to be made
for the Regional Hospital Board.
