STAFF CHANGES
There were 21 new appointments to the Health Area Staff, and
fifteen resignations.

HEALTH CENTRE SITES
The earmarking of sufficient and satisfactory Health Centre
Sites has proved to be a difficult problem in a built-up area like
Walthamstow, where conveniently situated sites of sufficient size
are at a premium, having regard to the need for housing sites.
Originally some 14 sites were considered in conjunction with
the representatives of the various professions which are to use
them.
At the time of writing, six remaining sites are being considered,
which have been inspected and reported upon. These sites have
now been approved by the County Health Committee.
GENERAL DENTAL SERVICE
Mr. L. W. Elmer, L.D.S., Senior Dental Surgeon in charge of
all Dental Services reports as follows:—
This service has been continued as in previous years, but, as
foreseen in last year's report, upon a reduced scale.
A staff of two full time and four part-time Dental officers has
been reduced to five part-time officers, who have worked for 606
sessions as against 1,046 sessions in 1949.
The main encouraging feature is that the amount of conservation
work shows a very small decline. This is due to the increasing
proportion of younger patients receiving treatment, i.e., patients
who have continued from their school-days and who would otherwise
have almost certainly been unable to be accepted and receive
treatment elsewhere.
