"Our financial outlook at the moment is black, so regretfully
the Committee of the W.D.N.A. have decided to increase
the cost of Membership for the Provident Scheme and raise
the cost of the nursing fees.
"This, by the end of 1947, should have considerably
relieved the situation."
POST-GRADUATE LECTURES TO MIDWIVES
Four lectures to midwives were given in May and June by
Dr. Alan Brews, F.R.C.S., F.R.C.O.G. The subjects were as
follows:—
1. Toxaemias of Late Pregnancy.
2. Antepartum and Postpartum Haemorrhage.
3. Delay in Labour.
4. Abnormalities of the Puerperium.
A total of 126 attended, including medical practitioners.

There was no change in the arrangements for the employment
or subsidy of midwives by the Council.
Non-medical supervision of Municipal Midwives has been
carried out by the Assistant Matron at the Maternity Hospital.
