G.—INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITAL.
The following renovations were carried out at the Sanatorium
during the year:—
Administration Block, 'C' Block and 'E' Block.—Whitening
of ceilings and washing down walls.
'G' Block, 'T' Block and Mortuary.—Washing down ceilings and
walls.
'D' Block.—Rebuilding of kitchen.
Lodge.—Whitening of ceilings and distempering of walls in
two bedrooms, ground floor front and lavatory.
General.—Removal of black-out, replacement of glazing, etc.
Schemes were approved for new kitchen equipment at an estimated
cost of £1,330 and for new laundry equipment at an estimated
cost of £510.
General.—(i) The death-rate per 100 admissions of infectious
disease patients was 1.31.

(ii) The following table shows the admissions, discharges and deaths during 1945:—

Training.—During 1945, 8 probationers passed the preliminary
and 2 the final examination for the Fever Nursing Certificate of the
General Nursing Council.
The examination fees of probationers are now paid by the
Council.
Staff.—The staffing position both nursing and domestic became
progressively worse as the year advanced.
