Bacteriological examination of milk is carried out either at
The Counties Public Health Laboratories, E.C.4, or at Queen
Mary's Hospital, E.15.
Specimens of food suspected of causing food poisoning are,
when necessary, sent to the Laboratory of the Ministry of Health.
(f) Nutrition.
All available means for the dissemination of knowledge with
regard to nutrition have been followed. The nutritional condition
of the school children in the Borough, on the whole, shows improvement.
Details are given in the Report of the School Medical
Officer.
(g) Shell Fish.
There are no shell-fish beds or layings in the Borough.
THE RENT AND MORTGAGE RESTRICTIONS ACTS,
1920-1923.
During the year twelve certificates were granted to tenants
and five certificates have been issued to owners upon their application
and completion of the scheduled works.
DISEASES OF ANIMALS ACTS, 1894-1928.
Sheep Scab Order, 1920.—No case of this disease occurred
in the Borough during the year.
The Sheep Scab Order, 1928.—During the year, no sheep
were admitted into the area under Licence for Slaughter.
The Regulation of Movement of Swine Order, 1922.—
Under this Order, 1,761 pigs for slaughter were admitted into this
Borough during the year. All notices of such movements have,
as far as practicable, been followed up.
In addition, 25 detention and isolation licences affecting
268 pigs were in operation during the year. The conditions of the
licences were duly observed in all cases.
Tuberculosis Order, 1925.—Routine quarterly inspections
were carried out by your Veterinary Surgeon and Chief Sanitary
Inspector.
No instance has arisen calling for mention.
