One member of the Staff was removed to the Connaught
Hospital following an attack of renal colic. The kidney was
subsequently removed. Another member of the Staff
developed Whooping Cough. She was not treated at the
hospital, but went home and returned to the hospital when
the illness had terminated.
Operations at Hospital.—Eight operations were performed.
A total of five operations was done on two patients
in respect of deep abscesses of the limbs. One was a member
of the Staff, whose leg was saved from amputation by an
admirable combination of surgical and nursing skill.
There was one mastoid operation and two incisions of
the drum.
Specialist Consultations.—Six Consultants attended on 28
occasions for 13 patients as follows:—Otorrhcea, 7; Heart
•complications, 4; Keratitis, 1; Incision of foot, 1.
Swabs.—1,056 swabs were taken and examined during
the year in the laboratory at the hospital.

The following cases were transferred to Whipps Cross
Hospital:—Venous thrombosis of leg, 1 (occurring in a case
of Scarlet Fever); Nerve injury to arm, 1 (this patient developed
Diphtheria while undergoing treatment for the nerve
injury at Whipps Cross and was, at their request, re-admitted
there when free of Diphtheritic infection) Paronychia, 1.
One case notified as Diphtheria proved to be a fatal case
of acute my eloblastic leukæmia.
One patient transferred to Guy's Hospital, notified as
Diphtheria (?) malignant growth.
One patient was transferred to Guy's Hospital for treatment
of a temporal abscess.
