The 578 houses were situated as follows:—
Hale End Ward 243
(а) High Street Ward 20
(b) Higham Hill Ward 116
Hoe Street Ward 21
St. James Street Ward 20
(c) Wood Street Ward 158
(a) 20 flats over shops; (b) including 8 flats; (c) including 34
flats.
N.B.—Each flat is counted as one house.
Essex Hall and Kimberley Road Housing Schemes which were
commenced during the year, are nearing completion and no further
schemes have been submitted to the Ministry of Health for
approval.
The following information is given in the form required by
the Ministry of Health (Circular 1346):—
I.—Inspection of Dwelling-Houses during the Year :—
(1) (a) Total number of dwelling-houses inspected
for housing defects (under the Public Health
or Housing Acts) 4,037
(b) Number of inspections made for the purpose 12,389
(2) (a) Number of dwelling-houses (included under
sub-head (1) above) which were inspected and
recorded under the Housing Consolidated
Regulations, 1925 983
(b) Number of inspections made for the purpose 3,521
(3) Number of dwelling-houses found to be in a state
so dangerous or injurious to health as to be unfit
for human habitation 51
(N.B.— These are all situated in Clearance Areas)
(4) Number of dwelling-houses (exclusive of those
referred to under the preceding sub-head) found
not to be in all respects reasonably fit for human
habitation 2,381
