II.—Remedy of Defects during the Year without Service of
Formal Notices:—

consequence of informal action by the Local

A. Proceedings under Sections 17, 18 and 23 of the
Housing Act, 1930:—
(1) Number of dwelling-houses in respect of which
notices were served requiring repairs 101
(2) Number of dwelling-houses which were
rendered fit after service of formal notices :—
(a) By owners 76
(b) By local authority in default of owners
(at a cost of £72 2s. 11d.) 2
B. Proceedings under the Public Health Acts :—
(1) Number of dwelling-houses in respect of which
notices were served requiring defects to be
remedied 15
(2) Number of dwelling-houses in which defects
were remedied after service of formal notices:—

C. Proceedings under Sections 19 and 21 of the
Housing Act, 1930:

D. Proceedings under Section 20 of the Housing
Act, 1930:—
(1) Number of separate tenements or underground
rooms in respect of which Closing
Orders were made Nil.
(2) Number of separate tenements or underground
rooms in respect of which Closing
Orders were determined, the tenement or
room having been rendered fit Nil.
(b) General
During the year 67 letters addressed to the Public Health
Department in support of applications for rehousing were
acknowledged and forwarded to the Housing Manager for the
attention of the Housing Committee.
