The number of new cases in which these defects occurred was
67, whereas the number of new cases over 5 years of age referred by
the School Medical Service was 61. In other words, more than half
the cases were found before entering school, which in itself, is a
tribute to the ascertainment of orthopaedic defects at the Welfare
Centres.
