IV. HOUSING.
(a) Statistics.
The particulars of new houses erected during 1931 are given in
the form prescribed by Circular 1119 for the 1930 Report in view of
the absence of any prescribed form for the current report. In
addition, the Engineer and Surveyor has kindly given separate
particulars as to houses erected up to and following the Census night,
viz., 26th/27th April. When the detailed Census returns become
available it will then be possible to estimate at the end of each year
the number of inhabited houses in each Ward—due allowance being
made for any demolitions, either Statutory or voluntary.
The total of 695 houses erected during 1931 compares favourably
with the 663 houses built during 1930.
The following are the figures and notes supplied by the Engineer
and Surveyor:—
