the quarter was 420.3, being l0.3 below the average in the
four quarters of 121 years.
Barometer.—The mean reading of the barometer was
29 "747 inches, being .001 of an inch below the mean reading
in the four quarters of 51 years.
Rainfall.—The rainfall was 7.23 inches, being 0.15 of an
inch above the average.
Sunshine.—The amount recorded during the quarter was
102'6 hours, or 12.3 per cent, of the total number of hours
the sun was above the horizon. This amount was below
the average.
Weather.—The weather was very cold till end of ()ctober,
with very little sunshine until the end of November. In
December it was cold. On the 22nd a severe frost set in,
which continued until the end of the year.

If these are added to the 78 reported in the previous year, it will show that 106 houses have been represented as unfit for human habitation since the passing of the Act on 18th August, 1890.
