7.—No carpets, mats, &c., are to be beaten or shaken after 10
o'clock in the morning. Nothing must be thrown from the
doors or windows. All refuse must be deposited in the
appointed places.
8.—Tenants must pay for the repairs of windows, and replacement
of keys ; and for all wilful damage.
9.—Children are not allowed to play on the stairs, in the passages
or in the laundries.
10.—Dogs must not be kept on the premises.
11.—Tenants are required to distemper and whitewash their rooms
at least once a year, to the satisfaction of the Society's agents ;
but must not paper, paint, or drive nails into the walls without
leave.
12.—No Tenant will be permitted to underlet or take in lodgers, or to
carry on any trade or business in his rooms without the
written permission of the Secretary.
13.—Disorderly or intemperate Tenants will receive immediate notice
to quit.
14.—The acceptance of any gratuity by the Superintendent from
Tenants or applicants for rooms is strictly forbidden.
15.—The gas is turned off at 11 p.m., and the outer doors closed for
the night; but Tenants can obtain admission at all hours.
16.—Free admission is to be given at all reasonable times to the
Secretary, the Superintendent, and the workmen employed by
the Society.
17.—A notice to quit, given by one of two single women Tenants,
being joint occupants, shall be considered binding upon the
other; and a notice to quit, delivered to either of two joint
occupants, shall be considered as putting an end to the
tenancy of both from the expiration of such notice.
