The Medical Officers report "that the sanitary condition
of the hospital is still in the same satisfactory state that it
has been during the last ten years; this means that there
has been an absence of puerperal fever in the wards during
the whole of that period."
"In the out-patient department of the hospital 435
women have been delivered, but in no instance has a mother
lost her life."

high birth-rate of 39.5 per 1,000.
The 26 deaths were equivalent to a death-rate of 187
per 1,000.
Of the total deaths 17 were those of children under 5
years of age.
