Third Quarter.
Temperature.—The mean temperature of the air was 5 9.4°.
Barometer.—The mean reading was 29 810 inches.
Rainfall.—The amount measured at the Royal Observatory
was 7.69 inches.
Sunshine.—There were 427 hours of bright sunshine recorded
at the same observatory.
Weather.—July was generally cold and wet.
August.—Cold and wet, with an excess of rain everywhere.
September was fine and warm throughout
Fourth Quarter.
Temperature.—The mean temperature was 4 0.8°.
Barometer.—The mean reading was 29.82 4 inches.
Rainfall.—The amount of rain or melted snow measured
was 3.44 inches.
Sunshine—The amount of bright sunshine recorded was
140 hours.
Weather.—October was very fine and dry.
November was fine and mild until the 24th, when very
severe weather set in and continued.
December was very cold, with frequent fog and light snow.
Sanitary Work,
During the year Sanitary Inspectors Bond and Robinson
made 11,341 visits and inspections of houses and premises,
and served 145 request, 547 statutory, 51 underground,
and 363 lodging-house notices.
