Savoury Cheese Mini-Gateau.
This article was incorrectly named. It contained added
butter and therefore became a cheese spread or cheese food.
Correspondence with the importers is continuing.
Jellied Pickled Eel.
The ingredients were not specified on the label as required
by the Labelling of Food Order 1953 and the importers have
arranged for the label to be amended to include a list of
ingredients.
Shrimp Chow Mein,
The article contained 9% of shrimp. In the opinion of
the Public Analyst the title for such an article should not have
the name of a variety of fish as the first word in the title and
the label has been amended.
Low Fat Spread (2 Samples).
The article contained times the maximum amount of water
permitted by the Food Standards (Butter and Margarine) Regulations
1955. A general claim for the presence of vitamins was made in
the form of the inclusion of Vitamins A and D in the list of
ingredients, but the minimum quantities of Vitamin A and Vitamin D
were not declared on the label as required by the Labelling of Food
Order 1953®
Following correspondence, the labels were amended to include
the quantities of Vitamins A and D.
Glacé Cherries.
Some of the ingredients were not correctly declared. Two
were listed as 'glucose' and 'S02' but the appropriate designations
for these are glucose syrup and sulphur dioxide.
The supplier agreed to amend the list of ingredients on the
container.
