Strawberry Fruit Filling.
The title and illustration were misleading. The sample
contained 23% of strawberries, but the title and illustrations of
a dish of fresh strawberries were calculated to give the impression
that the article consisted essentially of fruit. In
the opinion of the Public Analyst the article should be described
as Strawberry Pie Filling.
The manufacturers reported that this product was formulated
to contain a much higher proportion of strawberries and a subsequent
sample was found to be satisfactory.
Rum Flavoured Cola.
The title was misleading. The minute proportion of rum
present, 0.6% did not appear to justify the name.
The manufacturers agreed to change the name of this product to
Rum Flavour Cola and the declaration of proof spirit to "not more
than 0.5 degrees proof".
Dried Herbs.
The ingredients were not specified on the label as required by
the Labelling of Food Order 1953.
The packers amended the label to include a list of ingredients
in descending order by weight.
Orange and Kahao Creme.
The ingredients were not specified on the label as required by
the Labelling of Food Order 1953.and the importers have agreed to
amend the label.
Non-dairy Creamer.
The label on this product was misleading. It bore the statement
"for creaming coffee" but the sample contained no butter fat.
The matter was raised with the importers and the label amended.
