The number of maternal deaths was 2, the maternal mortality
rate per 1,000 live and still births for 1948 was 0.892.
Population.
The Registrar-General's estimate of the population to the
middle of 1948 was 121,100, an increase of 2,430 compared with
that for the previous year. The rates per 1,000 of the population
mentioned in this report are based on this estimate.
