Treatment of Tuberculosis
Memorandum 266/T.
Maintenance allowances to patients sufferings from pulmonary
tuberculosis receiving treatment from the Tuberculosis and Chest
Clinic and Institutional treatment were paid to 131 patients
during the year in accordance with the terms of the Circular.
TUBERCULOSIS AND CHEST CLINIC.
Notifications.
The number of primary notifications of all forms of
tuberculosis during 1945 was 258 as compared with 198 for the
previous year. Of the primary notifications of pulmonary
tuberculosis 11.1% had tubercle bacilli in the sputum.

Statistical.
The total number of notified cases on the register of the
clinic on 31/12/45 was 1,095 (pulmonary and non-pulmonary) or
11.5 per 1,000 of the estimated population as compared with 979
or 10.7 per 1,000 population in 1944.
