Scarlet Fever.
Four hundred and eleven notifications of this disease were
received during 1935, as compared with 979 for the previous year.
The number of deaths occurring from this cause was one, and
344 cases or 83.7 per cent. received hospital treatment as against
82.2 per cent. for the previous year.
Diphtheria.
Notifications for the year totalled 254, a decrease of 125 cases
when compared with 1934. Of the total cases notified 250 were
removed to and treated in hospital, equivalent to 98.4 per cent.,
99.4 per cent. being the comparable percentage for the previous
year. The number of deaths was 16 or a case mortality of 0.3
per cent. There is no change in the arrangements for the supplying
of antitoxin to Medical Practitioners as set out in previous
years.
Schick Immunization Clinics.
During the year 1935, 1,007 infants and children have been
completely immunised.
The total number of inoculations performed has been 3,544,
of which 1,627 were carried out at the Town Hall Clinic, 1,497
at the Maternity and Child Welfare Clinic, 282 at the Infectious
Diseases Hospital, and 138 by Private Practitioners.
The following figures are intended to indicate the number
inoculated and the age groups involved in the cases treated .

Number inoculated once 13
In addition to the above, one child was inoculated twelve
times, two children nine times, one seven, one six, one five, and
six, four inoculations.
