Inspection and Supervision of Food.
Milk Supply.
A survey of the dairies was carried out during 1935, and in
consequence several improvements were effected, including:—
Suitable means for cleansing and scalding bottles and
receptacles—(Sterilising outfits) provided 16
Suitable means of "bottling" milk (mechanical fillers)
provided 3
Suitable means of closing milk bottles (mechanical capping
machines) provided 5
Dairies reconstructed 9
Four dairymen having most unsatisfactory premises and
little or no equipment, ceased business as dairymen but continued
as purveyors of bottle milk only.
One dairyman who was reinstated in the Spring of 1935 was
finally removed from the register "absolutely."
Milk (Special Designations) Order.
The large pasteurising establishment in the Borough was kept
under constant supervision and thermographic records scrutinised.
"Check" thermometers have been installed upon request, and
means of thermostatically controlling the process is under consideratioh.
