SECTION VI.
INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD.
The food premises in the Borough are kept under observation, both as to their
sanitary condition and cleanliness, by one special food inspector, but all the district
sanitary inspectors are responsible for keeping them under observation as to the
condition and soundness of the food stored, sold or prepared for sale. Two other
inspectors are responsible for the inspection of meat at slaughterhouses and for
the taking of samples under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts.
The following Table, No. 37, shows the food premises on the registers and the
number of inspections made in respect of each type during the year:—

Milk Supply.—The Borough Council is required to keep registers of all persons
carrying on in the Borough the trade of cow keeper or dairyman, and of all premises
in the Borough which are used as dairies. The following summary shows the state
of the registers at the end of the year :—
