for the production of a health play, written by a member
of the staff of the Department. This play, ' The Sins of the
Mother,' was presented by members of the 'Shornells'
Dramatic Group on three occasions, and was excellently
produced and acted and proved exceedingly popular. This
play is a great asset for Health Weeks and Exhibitions, for
it illustrates the use that should be made of the sanitary
inspector's advice and other resources of local health authorities.
The lectures reflected various aspects of health work
and were given by experts in their special subjects. A new
feature this year was a series of lectures, illustrated by films,
for youths. These lectures, which were given in the Council
Chamber, were very well received and are worthy of further
development in future health weeks. The pictures also
illustrated health work, and while certain of these films were
hired, others were kindly lent by the Ministry of Health, the
Health and Cleanliness Council, the Dental Board of the
United Kingdom, the Anglo-American Oil Co., the Bermondsey
Borough Council, the Milk Publicity Council, the King Edward
Hospital Fund, the Mutual Property Insurance Co., the Lord
Mayor Treloar Cripples' Home, the National League for
Health, Maternity and Child Welfare, and the National Baby
Week Council.
Special arrangements were made for the attendance of
school children over the age of 13 years at special sessions,
when dental films were shewn and a talk given on the care
of the teeth by one of the assistant medical officers.

indebted to the members of the staff and of the other departments
of the Council, who assisted us in making arrangements
for the opening of the Welfare Centre and Sunlight Clinic ;
for the converting of the Town Hall into a suitable building
