Unsound Food. On 45 occasions during the year unsound
food was surrendered, compared with 54 in 1923. Included
in the food surrendered was:—12½ cwt. Beef, 2½ cwt. Pork,
49 stone of Fish, 26 lbs. Bacon, 700 Eggs, 42 cwt. Strawberries,
27 lbs. Mushrooms, 30 cwt. Potatoes, and 26 lb.
Tomatoes. The number of carcases condemned on account
of tuberculosis was three—all pigs. No intimation was
received during the year that farmers in the district had
purchased unsound food to be used for cattle food. One
seizure was made consisting of 28 pieces of bacon weighing
in all 26 1bs. This unsound bacon was condemned by a
Justice of the Peace and an Order was made for its destruction.
