C 771 (Same vendor as C 726). Contained at least 3 per cent, of ailanthus
leaves. Vendor cautioned.
Dripping.— Out of 6 samples of dripping analysed, one sample was
unsatisfactory.
B 183 (Informal). Contained 7.2 per cent, of free fatty acids.
Lard.— Of 9 samples of lard examined, 2 samples were found to be
adulterated.
B 99 (Informal). Consisted of lard substitute.
B 100 (Informal). Consisted of lard substitute.
Lard Substitute.— 4 samples of lard substitute were analysed and of these
three samples were adulterated.
C 86 (Informal). Contained 10.8 per cent, of water.
B 167 (Informal). Contained 10.9 per cent, of water.
B 280 (Same vendor as B 167). Contained 10.0 per cent, of water. No
action taken.
Margarine.— Of 51 samples analysed, two samples were found to be
adulterated.
B 678 (Informal). The fat contained 40 per cent, of milk fat.
B 704. The fat contained 60 per cent, of milk fat. Vendor fined £10
with £3 3s. Od. costs.
Minced Meat.— 16 samples were examined and of these 2 samples were
unsatisfactory. Sulphur dioxide preservative is prohibited in meat.
A 62. Contained 460 parts sulphur dioxide per million. Vendor fined
£1 with £2 2s. 0d. costs.
A 73. Contained 2,890 parts sulphur dioxide per million. Vendor fined
£1 with £1 Is. 0d. costs. Vendor was also fined for obstruction.

Sago.— Of 3 samples examined, one sample, C 547 (Informal), consisted
of tapioca.
Sausage.— 4 samples of sausage were examined and one sample was found
to be adulterated.
A 59. Pork Sausage. Contained 220 parts sulphur dioxide per million
without declaration or notice of the presence of preservative. Vendor
cautioned.
Spirits.— 7 samples of whisky, 3 samples of brandy and 3 samples of gin
were analysed. Of these 1 sample of whisky was adulterated.
B 433. Whisky (Informal, sold as 30 degrees under proof). Contained
4.1 percent, excess water. A further sample taken formally from
the same vendor complied with the description.
Suet.— 8 samples of suet and shredded suet were examined, 1 sample
of shredded suet was unsatisfactory.
B 296 (Informal). 2.9 per cent, deficient in fat. A further sample
taken formally from the same vendor was satisfactory.
