Deaths in Outlying Districts.— There were 441 deaths of persons belonging
to the Borough in various Institutions outside the Borough:—

In addition there were 22 deaths of Stepney residents in private houses
outside the Borough.
Public Assistance and Unemployment.— The Chief Officer of Public
Assistance and the Ministry of Labour have kindly supplied me with the
following information:—

II.— GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES.
Changes in Staff.— The following appointments and changes in the staff
took place during the year:—
Dr. E. J. O'Keeffe was appointed Deputy and Assistant Medical Officer
of Health on the 26th May, thereby filling the vacancy created by my
appointment as Medical Officer of Health on the 24th December, 1936.
Dr. C. F. Price was appointed Assistant Tuberculosis Officer and Assistant
Medical Officer of Health on the 28th July, thus filling the vacancy created
by Dr. Harley Stevens' promotion to Senior Tuberculosis Officer on the
1st August, 1936. Dr. Price left on the 31st October to take up a new
appointment and on the 27th October Dr. J. W. Crawford was appointed in
his place.
Dr. J. P. Reidy, part time anaesthetist at the Council's Dental Clinic,
resigned at the end of July and Dr. M. J. O'Toole, who had been doing the
work temporarily, was appointed to the position on the 26th January, 1938.
