    The statistics of Marriages, Births and Deaths contained in this Report relate to the fifty.two weeks ending December 31st, 1898, and are calculated upon a population estimated to the middle of the year of 41,270, being a decrease upon the ascer. tained population at 1896 of 257 persons, and divided between the three Sub.Registration Districts as follows:—

    In the City Road bub.registration District there were 1,073; in the Whitecross Street Sub.Registration District there were 210, and in the Finsbury Sub.Registration District there were 76. In relation to the estimated population the figures stand as under:—

    The Deaths from all causes registered during the year, belonging to St. Luke, numbered 1,053, and includes 412 parishioners who died in Institutions outside the Parish, but is exclusive of 124 non.parishioners who died within our parochial boundary. of the 1,053 parishioners, 569 were males and 484 were females, a number which yields upon the estimated population a Death.rate equal to 25.51 per 1,000 persons living, being a slight increase upon the previous three years' Death.rate, as shown by the following figures:—
