Samples of milk have been taken regularly throughout
the year for the examination of bacterial content and
tubercle bacilli as follows:—
Bacterial examination—ordinary milk 44
graded milk 74
Tubercle bacilli 13
Milk. Bacteriological Examinations.
The results of bacteriological examination are shown in the following table, which includes the samples taken at the request of the Minister of Health from licenced producers of graded milk:—

In the 25 instances of unsatisfactory results shown in
the above table it was found that the presence of bacillus
coli was the prevailing fault.
Samples of milk were submitted to test for the
presence of tubercle bacilli in 13 instances, and in one case
the result was positive and the infected animal was
destroyed voluntarily by the farmer.
Milk. Contraventions.
No contraventions came to the knowledge of the
Department which called for statutory action.
Meat and Other Foods.
There are five registered slaughterhouses and three
licensed slaughterhouses in the district.
