"Tuberculin Tested" 4
The Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1936, which
came into force on 1st June, 1936, superseded the Orders
of 1923 and 1934. Under the new Order the grades of
Special Designations were reduced to three, namely,
Tuberculin Tested, Accredited and Pasteurised. Tuberculin
Tested replaced the previous designations of
Certified and Grade A (Tuberculin Tested) milks;
Accredited replaced Grade A milk, and the designation
Pasteurised has been retained. The conditions under
which the production and sale of milk are regulated in
the new Order have not been substantially changed.
The Sanitary Inspectors have made 112 visits during
1936 to dairies, cowsheds and milk shops, and the abatement
of nine defects and nuisances has been secured.
Milk in course of delivery has been examined by the
Inspectors on 56 occasions, and sediment contamination
has been observed in bottled milk in some instances. The
exercising of vigilance in this matter is instrumental in
impressing on milk distributors the necessity of maintaining
cleanliness in methods of bottling and washing
dairy utensils.
