PONDS AND RUBBISH DUMPS
These are regularly inspected with the object of preventing the
breeding of insect pests. The pond in White Hart Lane is emptied
and cleansed periodically by the Borough Engineer and Surveyor's
Department, whilst that of Alexandra Palace is supervised by the
Alexandra Palace Trustees.
OFFICES, SHOPS AND RAILWAY PREMISES ACT, 1963
The purpose of this Act is to make fresh provisions for the
securing of health, safety and welfare of persons employed to work
in Offices, Shops and certain Railway Premises.
On and after the 1st May, 1964, persons employing or intending
to employ persons in offices, shops or certain railway premises, were
required to register the premises with the local authority for the area
in which the premises were situated or, in certain cases, with H.M.
Inspector of Factories.
For the purpose of carrying out their powers and d'uties under
the Act, the Wood Green Borough Council established a register of
premises, subject to registration with them, and appointed their
Public Health Inspectors as Inspectors for the purpose of the Act.
The register is maintained in the Department of the Medical Officer
of Health
Measures were taken to publicise the coming into operation of
the Act and the registration forms were delivered to all premises
known to be subject to registration. Steps were taken to ensure
that, as far as possible, premises were duly registered.
Three hundred and sixty-one visits were subsequently made and
the number of premises is set out in the following tables:—
