ACCIDENTS DUE TO TRAFFIC.
Information with regard to street accidents has been obtained
from the reports which are now sent by the Commissioner of
Police to the Borough Surveyor.
During 1936 there were 105 accidents in the High Road and
124 elsewhere in Wood Green involving personal injury, and the
use of a motor ambulance was required on 195 occasions as
compared with 200 in 1935.
GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES
FOR THE AREA.
Professional Nursing in the Home.
(a) General.
The Wood Green Nursing Association which is affiliated
to the Queen's Institute of Nursing, provides a home nursing
service for sick persons in the Borough who are under the care of
medical practitioners. The services of two nurses maintained
by the Association are much in request by members of the Association
and while the work of the Association has made very good
progress during the past year, there is still, in my opinion, room
for considerable extension of this work in Wood Green.
(b) Infectious Diseases.
It is part of the duty of Health Visitors to visit cases of
ophthalmia neonatorum, measles, whooping cough or pneumonia
occurring in young children in their areas.
By arrangement with the Nursing Association, notified cases
of pneumonia are visited by the District Nurses and Nursing assistance
is supplied whenever asked for.
Midwives.
Noi midwives are employed by the Council. During the year
eight midwives residing in the Borough notified their intention to
practise.
