YEAR 1946
on
DENTAL WORK in connection with SCHOOL CHILDREN, EXPECTANT
and NURSING MOTHERS and CHILDREN under 5 years.
By E. A. JENNINGS, L.D.S., R.C.S.Eng.
The curtailment of the service which occurred at the Stonebridge Health Centre during the war ended in
January, when the second dental surgery was refitted with its original equipment and a temporary whole-time officer
appointed.
The Borough's dental staff has now returned to its pre-war complement of four dental officers assisted by
four nurses and a part-time anaesthetist. This small staff has to endeavour to cope with the dental needs of the
present school population of approximately 19,800, in addition to the inspection and treatment of some 1,400
maternity and child welfare cases. The full requirements of the Borough for a complete school and maternity
dental service cannot be satisfied without further clinic accommodation, with an operating staff of eleven dental officers.
THE YEAR'S WORK.
The total working sessions amounted to 2,050, which were utilised as follows :
Treatment sessions at the Centres 1,854
