in Willesden by midwives living outside Willesden.
The 12 Municipal District Midwives attended 745 midwifery cases in 1946 and, in addition, answered 20

129 of these were Willesden residents attended on behalf of the Willesden Council with, in addition, 25 cases attended
for ante-natal care only. 83 were cases attended outside Willesden.
Midwives attached to the Willesden District Nursing Association attended 205 maternity cases on behalf of
the Council.
During the year 361 notifications were received from Midwives practising in Willesden in accordance with
the rules of the Central Midwives' Board and of these, 313 notifications were in respect of medical aid, 254 in respect
of the mother and 59 in respect of the child.
The ninth year's working of the Domiciliary Midwifery Scheme and the Second Period Training School
for pupil midwives has been very satisfactory.
The number of whole-time Municipal Midwives is 7, and 2 full-time relief midwives. In addition, under
arrangements made with the Willesden Borough Council, Queen Charlotte's Hospital District Home deals with
midwifery cases in the area allotted to the Home, and the Willesden District Nursing Association deals with the
Maternity Nursing throughout Willesden.
