Scabies and Lice.—The arrangements set out in last year's
Annual Report for the treatment of patients suffering from scabies
or vermin infestation remained unaltered until the end of the year.
Details of work carried out under this heading during the year are
as follows:
57 patients were treated for scabies.
4 patients were treated for head lice.
Arrangements were made to have this work carried out at the
Hornsey Disinfestation Station, when the facilities at the Isolation
Hospital ceased to be available. In view of the comparatively
small demands, it is felt that these arrangements should be
satisfactory, at least for the time being. The anticipated addition
of two Health Assistants to the School Medical Service will allow
this work to be more adequately covered so far as children attending
our schools are concerned.
Nursing in the Home.—(a) The Southgate Queen's Nursing
Association continues to provide nursing facilities in the home, on
the same generous scale as we have come to expect in the past. The
standard of these services needs little commendation from me, but
I should not like to let this opportunity pass without expressing my
personal appreciation and the appreciation of the Public Health
Department for the excellent work carried out each year by the
Nursing Association. There has always been close and cordial
co-operation between the Public Health Department and the Queen's
Nursing Association, co-operation which is officially recognised by
the appointment of the Medical Officer of Health on the Executive
Committee of the Association.
