Provisions) Act, 1953:—
(1) Closing Orders made under Section 10 (1) 3
4. Housing Act, 1957—Overcrowding: —
The Housing Manager reports that 63 families living in overcrowded and
unsatisfactory conditions were rehoused during the year.
5. Slum Clearance
Housing Act, 1957, Sec. 42—Clearance Areas: —
Official representations were made to the Council in respect of thirteen
areas comprising 68 houses, which housed 61 families and 190 persons.
PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER, INFECTIOUS
AND OTHER DISEASES
Diphtheria
For the thirteenth year in succession no cases of diphtheria occurred in
the district.
Diphtheria Immunisation
The following is a return of the number of children resident in the
district who were immunised against diphtheria during the year:—

Reinforcing inoculations 45 211 256
Penge children under the age of 15 years on the 31st December, 1960,
who had completed a course of immunisation at any time before that date
were as follows:—

Posters were exhibited throughout the district urging mothers to have
their children immunised.
Smallpox
No case was notified.
The following shows the number of Penge residents who were vaccinated
against smallpox during the year:—
